Taketsuru's no-age-statement blended malt is a marriage of single malts from both the Yoichi distillery on Hokkaido, and the Miyagikyo distillery near Sendai. Aged on average for around 10 years in a variety of different cask types.
n: vanilla cream and sweet. Heavy caramel and vegetable oil. Syrupy fruit cocktail mix from the can. Light astringent nose.
t: grassy and sweet. Melon (cantalope), and vanilla caramel with simple syrup sweetness taking over in the middle. Black plums and a hint of paper smoke in the light finish. Quiet and simple, this is not bad, but it is a step down from the 12 year and doesn't leave me wanting more. [C/C+]
More pronounced vanilla, more grassy/vegetal than 12 year old.
