Nose: Peat, bacon, sherry in the background.

Palate: Soy sauce, Teriyaki glaze, syrupy sweet.

Finish: Mostly peat

This one had a promising nose but in the end it didn't come together.

Lost my notes on this one, but I am absolutely certain that I thought it was fantastic. It showed up in a blind tasting where, to be completely candid, I thought it was some sort of bizarre, old and wonderful Ardbeg. That's the sort of thing I'd admittely scoff at if I read a newbie's review mentioning that kind of thing -- "Hah! Of course he would think that!" -- so mea culpa. But this stuff is very, very good.

One of the veteran PLOWED guys who I really look up to recently said to me, "Man, I am so glad you didn't put that in the Must-Try box! I got to buy tons of it." Truth is, I'm just slow to enter notes. Oh, and Sku's completely wrong, broken-palate review above woulda kept it outa there anyway. Cheers TH. And Sku.

Deep red-purple plum color. Sherry, new shoe rubber (not too much), peat and just generally dynamic on the nose. The palate is interestingl the tannins especially play well here. They oscillate between too much and not enough. After 10-15 minutes they settle down and there is just a solid non-bitter oak. Smoke and sherry core. Very nice. B+ [9/18/14]

Blind taste:  Very enticing nose, bold and sophisticed, with warm peat, with nice charcoal and wood notes. Palate is very nice, even maybe a little chocolate.  A- [12/21/14]
