Ooooh, that nose is just great. Soft, sooty Port Ellen. Kippers. Fairly sweet with a little tobacco and raisins.

Oh man. A damn nice palate. Yeah... that's really nice. A moderate sweetness with controlled, earthy peat. And we're talking truly peaty-earthy, not so much "smokey," rich and in perfect amounts. It doesn't overwhelm or push me away. Finish amps up, peppery, with brownies and a little salt. Very long.

It's important to note that I'm basing my notes on a dram from a bottle that has been open for quite a while. Aeration can change a whisky significantly, so plan accordingly.

Outstanding whisky and a great pick by K&L. Each sip just brings me back for more.

N: Lemony-sweet with some nice malt, a little hint of leather, a touch of diesel.

P: Creamy mouthfeel, a fair bit of wood. Some malt underneath, a little white pepper. Pears start to come through late. Light pealt, almost more of a shade than a main note. After a while a little more malty sweetness.

F: Some light smoke and a faintly industrial touch. A bit more of the pear-type note; quite clean.

Quite a gentle Port Ellen; a really great mouthfeel.

This has a great nose with sweet white wine, malt and peat. The palate is sweet and malty with peat coming in mid-palate and hanging on for the finish. This is a flavor profile I really like done really well.

Noses of cereal, grains and sweet corn. Good amount of maltiness and sweet wine. Slight bitterness of oolong tea and oily peat. Farmyard-y. The peat really hits the palate upon entry but its not too hot. The maritime notes emerge with a bit of citrus. The winey stuff is still very abundant on the palate. Good length finish that is leafy/ vegetal.

Agree with Adam. Sweet and light; fantastic selection by K&L. [1/4/13]

n:  Very nice.  Makes be think of dark fruits, mulled cider and leather by a Christmas fire (tis the season.)  The spices really jump at you in a good way.

p:  Unexpected.  Oil and lemony tar, but not overly much.  Faint red hots take over from the middle toward a long finish.  Good stuff.
