The nose on this is striking with big, sweet sherry notes. The palate is very sweet sherry (strange, since fino is a very dry sherry) just bursting with fruit and sweet wine. In the finish, the sherry fades to an Angostura Bitters type flavor.

Of the four whiskies in the Soloist series, this one definitely stood out; it's a bold, fruity sherry without any sulphur which hits my sweet spot for sherry pretty well (though it's on the sweet side of my sweet spot).

Heavy fino sherry on the nose, unmistakeable. Palate is pretty sweet and again heavy on the fino flavors -- and I don't tend to like stuff that actually tastes like fino -- but here it's good. Long finish.

Everything behind the very sweet sherry is mild and typical, and the sweetness is nearly too cloying at times. But it's still pretty darn tasty and I'd be happy to own a bottle.

Deep red-brown amber color. The nose is initially straightforward sherry (not overpowering) but slowly medicinal berry notes come out, and eventually some spiced oak and fruit along with sugar-cinnamon. Definite sweetness. The palate also features, you guessed it, sherry, though a little more delicate than I was expecting. Very nick kick and mouth feel, fantastic draw. B+/A-. N: Roasted walnuts and toffee cake.  It has the sugar-y dark berry smell you get from nyquil and jagermeister with some floral aspects.

P: Dark bitter red apple skins with sweet malt

F: Raisins and prunes

Ries

n: burnt cherry wood, scorched strawberry jam, salted plums (ume), pumpernickle bread. Golden raisins in milky oatmeal, mixed fruit in a tin can.

t: burnt butter and stewed red fruits with bright spice. Apple cider, creme brulee with strawberries and a nice oak char. Baked green apple with cloves poked in. Dark molasses and plums with a delicious bit of spice to round it all off in dusty clove finish.
