N: Spirity and thin, a little smoke, soy sauce, a hint of that Springbank complexity but not enough, some cakey sweet notes. P: Tasty orange rubber, woody, but again thin, ya gotta search for it, trace of phenols and gunpowder. F: Smoke emerges fully in the finish. Signs of greatness here, but just not enough flavor. Too young and hot (never thought I'd say that!).
Nose is tangerine and peat. Palate is creamy, salty, dried fruits, big red gum. Finish is more big red. Little short and salty. But a good value Springbank. I think the higher alcohol is worth $5 more than the normal 10 year -- interestingly this is aged in exclusively bourbon barrels. The flavors are more intense than the normal 10 year. Perhaps a B+ whisky, especially for the value.
For me, all that is Springbank 10 year but more concentrated and bull-bodied. I love the warm cream and chocolatey goodness with the light peaty smoke. Long finish that warms for days. ahhhhh.
