N: Sweet and floral with some deeper notes of dark chocolate and coffee. P: Quite woody, almost tea-like, with distinct tastes of dry tobacco leaf. Dry on the palate but then... F: ...gets sweet for a moment on the finish before going dry again with a hint of mildew. All was going well in this single barrel until the very finish with that moldy off-note.
Nose: Corn, with a good dose of rye. Palate: Old school Bourbon, caramelly and sweet with muted rye in the background. Tasting blind, I actually pegged this for an old ND Old Taylor. It doesn't have the strong rye notes I generally associate with Buffalo Trace. Finish: Candy Corn.
