Membership

By design, the Los Angeles Whisk(e)y Society is a small and private group. Membership is by invitation only. New attendees are usually nominated by existing members.

LAWS meetings are usually formally structured but informal in tone. Meetings are like gatherings of old friends. We look for people who will fit well within our existing group. A very deep knowledge in one or more categories of whiskey is required, and you'll need to be able to get to Los Angeles for meetings.

If you're interested in joining, it's rare that we have an opening (membership is capped, and old members must drop out before new ones are admitted). And, we rarely admit new Alternates via web inquiries -- but you're welcome to contact us and give it a shot. You don't need to be eloquent, but you should explain why you'd be a good fit for LAWS.
