The Daily Pint has the best selection of whiskey in Los Angeles, as far as single malt scotch and Irish whiskey, and as far as bars and whiskey aficionados go.
It's also a bit of a dive. In a good way... if you like that sort of thing. And who doesn't? Their Scotch selection is huge -- chock full of TONS of indie bottlings and unusual distillery bottlings. This is where to go when you're in the mood to try something new... and aren't you always?
Daily Pint also has an excellent selection of beers on tap -- around 30. And a whole lot more in bottles.
We love this place, though we love it the most when it's not jam-packed on weekend nights. Go on a weeknight, throw your credit card behind the bar, and sample away!

Hands down the best stop west of the 405 for your fix. An absolutely ridiculous menu of whiskies, with a heavy indie bottling presence. Prices are fair for a bar; you can get that Last Drop that you're not going to pay for a bottle of, or a Kinclaith that isn't worh the $1500 that people want for a bottle. Very fun to page through and idly scan the back of the bar.
Great beer selection, heavy on west coast craft brews; a reasonable and enjoyable lambic & sour selection.
This is my kinda place: Informal, unpretentious, and well-stocked.

Worth going when you want to explore. I find it hard to order -- because there is so much to choose from. And they have La Fin du Monde which is about the only beer that can distract me from scotch.
